GUIDELINES FOR 3-MIN PITCH: ORAL PRESENTATION @ MALSEC IADR MEETING 24TH FEBRUARY 2018

3 MINUTES PITCHING: PRESENTING YOUR RESEARCH IN A CONVERSATION

Pitching is presenting a concise statement of your research interest and/or findings and experience to be shared in professional context.

 

Through this approach, you will be providing a brief presentation orally (3 minutes) in a memorable, creative conversation manner.

 

The presentation should include:

 

 

  • * the topic of your research
  • * what is the problem issue or research question that you are asking in your research
  • * why is that problem/issue interesting and important
  • * how does your work connect to a broader disciplinary issues and current scenario in dentistry / dental research

 

Useful tips for pitching:

 

  • * use positive impression and creative approach to capture audience interest
  • * multimedia presentation can be used to highlight points (MS powerpoint/video/ audio etc – please check the compatibility of your presentation media with Secretariat before your presentation)
  • * if you are already progressing in or have completed your research, highlight novel methods, findings and research implications
  • * avoid jargon and use simple but specific words/terminologies
  • * be creative in your delivery
  • * show enthusiasm
  • * watch some broadcasts on Research Pitching / 2-Minutes Thesis on YouTube and other apps

 

Assessment will be made based on:

 

  • * use of time (3 minutes presentation and 5 minutes Q&A)
  • * presentation style
  • * creativity
  • * scientific merit of the research project

 

What to do:

 

    1. 1. from now to 8th February 2018: submit your abstract (use abstract template provided and provide all necessary info) to Secretariat and receive an email notification for receipt of abstract within a day/two of submission

 

    1. 2. by 17th February 2018: receive email for acceptance of paper and presentation schedule. Make payment and register via online registration form

 

    1. 3. between 17th February– 24th February 2018: preparation for presentation and confirmation of media with Scientific Secretariat

 

  1. 4. 24th February 2018: present your paper!
